Looking after your mental wellbeing
Looking after your mental health is important, particularly while looking for a job – which can be difficult and there may be setbacks.
Whether it’s stress or anxiety, sadness or low mood, everyone will face mental health challenges at some point. They are a part of life, but sometimes they can be a real problem.
If you are having mental health difficulties, you can seek help:
- Contact NHS 111 or talk to a GP
- The NHS’s better mental health website, Every Mind Matters (external website), provides advice and practical tips to improve your mental wellbeing
- Charities like Mind (external link) can also provide help and support
- If you need urgent help, the NHS website outlines your options.
If you’re a young person facing mental health difficulties, there are additional options:
- Find out about the support and services the NHS offers to young people
- YoungMinds (external website) provides advice and guidance for young people looking for support
- Youth Hubs also provide access to wellbeing and mental health support through trusted local organisations. This could include confidence building sessions, group workshops, or directing you to services where you can get more specific support
