Want a Kickstart?

Are you aged between 16 and 24 years old and in receipt of Universal Credit? You might be eligible for the Kickstart Scheme; a 6 month paid job with a local employer.

Our Virtual Kickstart Jobs Fairs are now running each week. The sessions run for around an hour and will consist of:

  • An overview of the Kickstart Scheme
  • Information on our “Jobs of the Week”
  • A chance to speak to Kickstart Employers about their roles and businesses
  • A summary of all available Kickstart Jobs in each county

They are all run though Microsoft Teams. Please join the sessions below.

Virtual Redundancy Support Events –
Every Wednesday

DWP work in partnership with Careers Wales to provide support to people affected by redundancy. This service aims to address the effects of job losses on individuals and on the local community by helping people move into alternative employment.

The Virtual Redundancy Support session will be delivered by a DWP Employer Adviser and a Careers Wales Mentor. It will outline the key support available to you at this time and how to access further one to one help for your specific needs. Find out more and register here (external link).

British Libraries – Self Employment Support and Events

British Libraries are holding a number of events to support people wanting to start a new business or supporting those in business.

They have a ‘Reset, Restart, Bounce Back’ programme that looks at Webinars focusing on key areas to develop and improve your business. You can find more information about the British Libraries programme here (external link).

Get Into Teaching – Virtual Events

If you are currently studying, or recently graduated? If you want a career with pride and purpose, join one of Get Into Teaching Online Q&A events for more information about what a career in teaching has to offer, and get one to one advice on every aspect of getting into teaching.

Youth Employment UK

Youth Employment UK is a not-for-profit social enterprise set up to help tackle youth unemployment. They have resources to help 14-24yr olds with a skills programme, help understand what employers are looking for and how to develop these skills, weekly newsletters with CPD, advice, inspiration and links to opportunities. They also have a careers hub providing impartial careers information, key career sectors and pathways and advice on Job hunting, self-employment, volunteering, mental health and finances.

Destination Hospitality by Springboard / Diageo Learning For Life

The Destination Hospitality by Springboard focuses on all hospitality roles, both front of house and back of house. This would be great for anyone who is interested in learning about a variety of roles and employers in the hospitality sector. It is for anyone aged 16 and over and is unemployed.

The Diageo Learning For Life programme focuses on front of house roles. This would be great for anyone who enjoys dealing with customers. It is for anyone who is aged 18 to 30 and is unemployed.

These programme lasts around four hours per day, Monday to Friday, and will cover:

  • Skills workshops: teamwork, communication, confidence, resilience
  • Covid-19 training: personal protection, wellbeing, cleaning and hygiene, customer service
  • Employability skills: CVs, interview skills and mock interviews with industry professionals
  • Training and certificates for: food safety, licensing, health and safety, customer service
  • Daily mentoring with your programme manager to develop an individual career path, identify job opportunities, job application support and in-work support
  • Guest speakers: careers, employer expectations, resilience
  • Access to more than 40 e-learning modules
  • Guaranteed interviews with employers
